Ever crave delicious Colombian/Venezuelan food on a rainy night? Well I did, and on my journey through the dripping streets of Astoria, Queens I was lucky enough to cross paths with Arepa’s café. This place was a hidden gem in Astoria and I took the risk of entering without glancing at the menu because my stomach could not wait any longer. Usually I am a bit pensive before entering a new spot, but once I was greeted with a plate of mini empanadas and tostones – all that fear went away and I felt like I was home. Arepa’s café has an amazing selection of food and most importantly their well-known variety of Arepa’s will leave you wanting more. The pork pernil arepa with avocado made me believe heaven is indeed a real place – each bite was memorable and I would argue this arepa would have you appreciate life more than you did before you walked in.
Arepa’s Café is definitely a nice spot to hang out and enjoy some good noms and passion fruit sangria. This service was kind, quick and worked well with big groups of customers. I strongly encourage you to check this place out – perhaps on a sunny day instead this time. Overall, I give this place 4 stars – I’ll be back!!
