Leica Q in NYCC ‘22

I was very skeptical about why many Leica fan boys are always raving about the ‘Leica colors.’ I don’t understand it. Can’t you generate a certain look with good editing nowadays? So I recently bought a used Leica Q for a good price online to see what’s all the fuss about.

Upon opening the box and holding it for the first time. I was impressed on the built quality of the camera. It’s sturdy, metallic, perfect weight, and there’s a luxurious feel to it when I’m holding it. But the main attraction of the camera is the 28mm F/1.7 that’s sharp and produces the Leica color science. So l took it to New York Comic Con to take pictures of the event.

Throughout my time in NYCC while using the Leica Q, it was such a delight. The smaller size of this camera was such a breath of fresh air compared to a much heavier DSLR and a big lens. It was comfortable and I was fun taking pictures. As you can see above, that Leica look is apparent with the sharpness, high contrast, and higher black colors that really stood out. I did very minimal editing, and the pictures out of the camera are easy to work with.

At the end of the convention, I was a believer of the Leica ecosystem. It brought a new perspective of capturing moments with this new tool. It made me focus on photography as an art form.

The Leica Q got me excited about photography again.
